PlayStation X Nintendo Roster

Description

It's been a while since the last time I've made a character roster like this, so I decided I would try to get back into the style of making them with my own personal wishlist for a crossover of Super Smash Bros and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. I realize, of course, that the likelihood of this ever becoming official is slim to none, but I still enjoy the idea of these companies collaborating on making the ultimate crossover fighting game. Without further ado, I'll give a description of this roster design.

For starters, the overall design of the roster is heavily based off of the character selection screen from Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, including several blacked-out character slots at the bottom. Unlike Naruto, these slots don't represent support-only characters. To be honest, they're basically just space-holders for now, although I am playing around with the idea of either making them secret/unlockable/DLC characters, special ''final forms'' that are only playable in certain game modes, or making them custom characters like in Soul Calibur. Aside from that little detail, the selection screen does share a few similarities with the Naruto games.

The numbers above the characters' heads represent their costumes, with ''1'' being their default appearance, and ''2'' and ''3'' being their alternate costumes. Replacing support characters are hidden characters, indicated by the additional characters marked by the "L2" and "R2" buttons seen over the young Link and Mewtwo models. These characters are actually individual characters with their own movesets and costumes, separate from the original character. In Link's case, the selection icon is hovering over Toon Link's portrait, but the character shown is Young Link from both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the latter of which his moveset is based on. In Mewtwo's case, players are able to either play as Mewtwo or Lucario, and both characters will have their own unique fighting styles and Final Smashes. This is my solution to many people who request one character in contrast to requests for another. Both characters are playable, but share a slot to make room for other characters to fill the roster (something that I believe the Naruto series should try, as well).

Also, you may notice that the characters no longer show a background behind their model. This is due to a new feature in which all characters are rendered with 3D models, much like in Naruto: Storm 3. Each character will display an idle animation (seen in the picture), and will strike a second pose once they are selected, similar to both Naruto: Storm 3 and Street Fighter X Tekken. As for the background, it is a combination of the Rival Arena from PlayStation All-Stars (with Polygon Man briefly visible behind the XMD waves), and Subspace from Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Controls (Reference being a PlayStation 3 controller):
Left Analog Stick: Navigation
Circle (O): Deselect/Back to Main Menu)
Cross (X): Confirm Selection
Square ([]): Swap Colors
Triangle (^): Random Selection
Select: Open Settings (From here you can change the victory conditions and choose between Battle Royale and Team Battle, as well as manage Item Appearance, Stage Hazards, Controls, and other options)
Start: Open Social Menu (From here, you can manage online options, such as voice chat and manage your invites, viewing game invitations and sending game invitations)
L1 & R1: Navigate Costumes
L2 & R2: Swap Hidden Characters (If applicable)
Right Analog Stick: Switch Player Slot (If playing against CPU opponents, this will allow Player 1 to switch between them, changing the character's settings as if they were their own character)
Start + Select: Proceed to Stage Selection

To balance this, Tearaway's Iota has been added as a hidden character for Sackboy. Neither are shown in this screenshot, but both have different movesets from the characters they share their slot with.
